Do you want to make your home appear more welcoming, or a fun place to hang out in summer where you can invite friends and family over. Perhaps you would like to make it stand out from the other homes in your neighbourhood?
Then consider doing some landscaping. Landscaping upgrades can bring increased ease, comfort and functionality and will have a significant impact on curb appeal and the value of your home.
1. Create a Welcoming Facade
Curb appeal isn’t only about selling your home, although it will help when the time comes. Curb appeal will enhance your pleasure each time you return home and it will help raise the attractiveness of your neighbourhood.
Do you like a clean, sharp look or a cottage garden look? Does your driveway need dressing up, or could your front verandah be made to look more inviting, perhaps with new or additional paving or an outdoor setting – maybe a potted plant or two. Imagine garden beds of glorious colour to greet you when you arrive home from work?

2. Transform your Backyard

Is your back yard looking neglected, or would you like to ‘wow’ your friends with a stylish new look or is it simply the view from inside your home is spoilt by unsightly aspects of the yard?
Why not include garden beds of various heights and/or planter boxes for added colour or a cosy area comprising a fire pit (which can be portable for removal in summer) and seating . A stylish outside kitchen for hosting year round amazing dinner parties maybe an option or perhaps a fountain or pond to create a peaceful and tranquil mood. To hide the things you don’t want on show (like garbage bins or compost heaps) it may just be a matter of installing a decorative screen.
3. Are you selling?
When selling, we are often advised to freshen up the interior with a fresh coat of paint or replace old and worn flooring but not much thought is given to the landscaping.
Landscaping can add tens of thousands of dollars to the value of your property; in fact, landscaping is one of the few home improvements you can undertake that will not only add immediate value, but will increase in value over time as the garden becomes more established as homes with an established garden are highly valued.
